Name: Cornelius Friesendorf

Cornelius Friesendorf  lives in Hamburg where he works as a political scientist. He started freediving as a child while sailing in the Mediterranean with Captain John Yates who showed him how to spearfish and hunt for treasure. He continued, in addition to scuba diving, freediving without knowing that this was a sports until 2011 when he discovered a freediving group in his home town of Frankfurt. Soon he began participating in pool and depth competitions and by 2018 was able to look back at a series of over 50 white cards without a single yellow or red card or a DNS (Did Not Start). For some reason he enjoys diving in freezing, pitch-black Northern European lakes but his favorite spot is the Blue Hole in Dahab. He was able to learn from many top-level freedivers, including New Zealander Jonathan Sunnex, and admires all athletes who remain humble, such as the Russian freediving legend Natalia Molchanova who talked of competitions as „games for adults”.
